Reviews for Kip McGrath Dunfermline
I have always loved being a teacher and I think I am a pretty good teacher. I was delighted to be given the Gold award for teaching at the Kip McGrath conference in 2015. However, receiving a written review from a student or their parent where we have made a real difference is the best feeling in the world as a teacher. I am proud to share some of these reviews below:
"Whilst I know I didn't need to, I really wanted to drop you a note to say a massive thank you for the incredible support and help you have provided to Max over the recent few months as he prepared for his Dollar entrance examination. It came as a bit of a shock for us just how much work he was going to need to do but frankly without the superhuman efforts that you have put in recently, he would not have come on nearly as far as he has.You have somehow managed to combine teaching, motivating and inspring Max in equal order, and I have never seen him so enthusiastic about learning. You have clearly found a switch in him and turned it on!He is now keen to read at home, and (with the occasional exception!) keen to get through his homework and discuss this with us.I know that there is still much to do but I now have no doubt that Max can begin to flourish and start to achieve his potential. That would not have been possible without your intervention and support and so I wanted to let you know how much it means to us all, and how grateful we are. Please keep up the good work. The children of Dunfermline and surrounding areas will have stronger and better futures because of all your incredible work and dedication. You should be proud of yourself." Richard
"Marisa has been at Kip McGrath since last year. We had tried tuition before and never got the correct results. When Marissa started I had explained to Gerald that I was very concerned with Marisa's concentration. He agreed that for her age it should be a lot better. I also in that time had ben to the school for parents' night and found out Marisa was doing well below average for her age. I told Gerald that I was going to have her diagnosed for ADD. He was very supportive. Marisa has since been diagnosed with ADHD. Since starting at Kip McGrath Marisa is now doing very well at school and is a lot more positive. I don't know what I would have done without Gerald or Julie Ann as they have made education fun and worthwhile and have a very special bond with Marisa that shows." Kerry
" I would just like to say thank you for the tuition my son Lewis has received. In less than a month his maths test results have gone from 50% to 80%. He did say after the first lesson with you that he understood more in that one session than in the two years he has been at High School." Hazel.
"I would like to express my appreciation for giving my daughter the confidence and self esteem she deserves to have. This was never just about Jessica learning maths, it was about overcoming the obstacle in Jessica's head that she couldn't. After only a few sessions she commented "Grandma I actually really like maths now". The relaxed, happy, club atmosphere is great, with no complaints regarding attending even in the holidays, so much so her sister is desperate to join. Thanks for your hard work." Pamela
"Last year at parents evening we were told that Chloe was quite far behind in her maths. We looked into sending her to private tuition. We found Kip McGrath and got an appointment with Gerald who was quite helpful in explaining to us what Kip McGrath could offer Chloe. He then gave Chloe an assessment and on completion of such he informed us that Chloe was far behind for her age. We duly enrolled Chloe for weekly tuition at the Dunfermline Centre. We can now see a big improvement in Chloe's ability to understand mathematics. We have just had our parents' evening and Chloe's teacher, who did not know she was attending Kip McGrath. told us that Chloe had excelled and has now moved up a level in school. Chloe loves going to Kip McGrath. It is a very friendly, fun atmosphere and she loves her teacher Julie Ann. We as parents would have no hesitation in recommending the Kip McGrath Centre in Dunfermline." Jill and Barry
"I discovered just over 6 months ago that my 7 year old was not able to read. I left the school feeling anxious and frustrated. I phoned Kip McGrath and I found a solution. My daughter was assessed in a safe, reassuring way. At this early stage the staff were positive and forward thinking. All our homework sessions had become fraught prior to coming to Kip. My daughter could not do her school work and basic reading seemed beyond her.
As soon as we went to Kip the professional tutors gave her confidence and the whole ethos of a 'can do' approach. they treated her with respect and made things fun. Reading and writing had stopped being fun for her. She had stopped believing in herself. At Kip, after 5 months, she is like a different child. She loves reading and she read a little novel the other day - unbelievable. She finds this skill fascinating. She reads everything, happily sounding out words that before were beyond her. Her confidence is back and Kip have given her back her care-free life. She has learned the brownies promise by reading it herself and was so chuffed with herself. She also writes little stories. As well as reading Kip concentrates on all aspects of writing.
For me it's a huge weight off my mind. We spend 80 minutes a week where learning is taught in various exciting ways. The tutors have always believed in her. They work with patience and constant positive reinforcement. They give me constant updates about her progress so that I can help her at home. Homework has become fun. Reading and writing has become fun for her too.
My other daughter became very anxious about her impending maths exam. She has only attended Kip for a few weeks but her confidence has grown so much in that time. She was assessed for gaps in her knowledge before she started and over the last few weeks these gaps have begin to be filled. She too is treated with respect and her confidence has risen immensely and as a result of her time at Kip she is now approaching her exams calmly and her stress has become manageable for her."Angela

"Our 10 year old son has been attending the Dunfermline branch of Kip McGrath for five months now. His level of confidence in his approach to his work as increased dramatically giving him the ability to cope with his mathematics and reading in school with pride.
With the support of the very friendly, understanding and discrete staff, they helped Ruaridh with the opportunity to try for entry exams into private schooling. Ruaridh is delighted to be attending Stewart Melville School in August 2013. Ruaridh will be continuing to attend Kip McGrath until then to ensure he has all the support he can gain in this new venture.
Ruaridh has even asked if he could quit his current school to just come to the team in Dunfermline. Kind regards." Carolyn
